Wellington Arts Centre in Eight Acre Lane is playing host to a pair of very different concerts next month.
On Sunday, October 4th, the Eastern European group Zeffe will feature Klezmer, the traditional instrumental folk music style created by Ashkenazi Jews in Eastern Europe alongside music from the Balkans.
Zeffe are a quartet of instrumentalists who tap into the rich traditions of the Balkans, from Greece to Bulgaria and beyond. Publicity states that Zeffe’s music ‘makes you want to dance, laugh and cry all – at the same time!’
Zeffe’s concert is at 7.30pm; doors open at 7pm.
On the following Sunday, October 11th, the award-winning Dorset folk duo Ninebarrow will be performing a matinee concert at 2pm as part of their autumn UK tour.
BBC Radio 2 presenter Mark Radcliffe described them as listening to ‘two halves of one voice’!
In 2017, they were nominated for a BBC Radio 2 Folk Award, one of the highest accolades in the world of folk music.
Folk Radio UK said: “They combine breathtaking harmonies and melodies, delivering original songs that are inspired and rooted in the landscape and history of the British Isles.”
Wellington Arts Association says: “Ninebarrow have built up a substantial loyal following so we expect tickets to sell quickly.”
