After a disappointing mid week defeat against Chard Wellington went to Corsham with a depleted squad due to players not available and being injured
. Jack and Connor Bryant both failed late fitness tests and Wellington were left with 12 players.
Promising Jamie Fleet started as well as James Rowley who made his debut at left back. Wellington started off well on a hot day and a wind blowing against them in the first half.It was Corsham who had the first chance but Viney was equal to it saving it at point blank. Wellington then began to get on top but as Wednesday chances went missing. Both Clough and Redrup had chances saved and some free kicks saw Wellington unable to get that first goal. Corsham had few chances and were glad to go 0 – 0 at hal time. The second half started as the first half with Viney being forced into making a brillant save.
Back came Wellington and with Redrup causing problems with his pace ad power Wellington to make more chances which werent taking. Finally Wellington scored when Redrup got to the bye line for Towler to score. Corsham got back in the game following the goal and missed a couple of half chances which Viney dealt with and there was still for Bellinger to rattle the cross bar with a 30 yard free kick. Wellington saw the game out to give them 3 points which meanent thye had gained more points than last season, remarkable given they only took 6 points from the opening 39 this season. Both Fleet and Rowley were good in a har dworking display.
Wellington now 8th have a chance of finishing 5th but would need to win against Chippenham away next Saturday
