Welly U-18s superb against Minehead

Wellington U18s 66 Minehead U18s 0

After weeks of wet unplayable pitches Wellington U18s returned to action when they entertained Minehead at home.

In places the conditions under foot could only be described as swamplike, however this did not stop The Red & Blacks playing with pace and skill, scoring some excellent tries in the process. The forwards supplied an abundance of ball from all aspects of play for the backs to use, which they used well scoring some classic backline tries. The forwards were not to be out=done, showing their dominance over the visitors, scoring tries from some well worked driving lineouts and rolling mauls.

Debutant fullback, Dan Rottenbury, looking extremely dangerous every time he touched the ball, Oscar Harrington distributed the ball well at scrum half and Will Hinchcliffe played a magnificent all round game. The Minehead lads could not handle the pace the home side played but credit to them they stuck to their task and never gave up.

Tries came from Jamie Hayman, Dan Rottenbury, Tom Davies, Sam John, Scott Davey, Harry Tredwin, Will Hinchcliffe, Will Lane, James Weeks, Oscar Harrington, Patrick Jarman and Alex Davey. Ricky Marke majorised two tries and James Weeks one try, making the final score 66 – 0 to The Red & Blacks.

Many thanks to to all involved for their hard work in preparing the pitch to enable the game to go ahead.

Wellington next game is at home to North Petherton on 22.12.12, KO 2.30pm.
