Woodpeckers Have Talent

Rockwell Green Primary School’s Woodpecker Class staged their own Talent Show before the whole school on Red Nose Day and gave judges – staff, parents and pupils – the challenging task of choosing a winner.

Teacher Emma Gatford and her class of Year 5 and 6 pupils put together a varied programme of talent featuring music and magic, words and dance which drew enthusiastic support from the audience of staff and pupils. Emma explained: ‘We wanted to offer our help to two of our parents – Emma Davey and Claire Lock – who are running the London Marathon for two charities, Cystic Fibrosis and the Brain Tumour Trust. All the children have contributed £1 on non-uniform day and Woodpeckers have added to that with our performers contributing a further £1 each. We’ve also raised money from the sale of red noses. We think our two parents are doing an amazing job in running the marathon and we wanted to support them both. The children have worked really hard to put the show together today and we’re proud of them.”

The school is holding a Cake Sale on 20 March to add to the total raised by the ‘Woodpeckers Have Talent’ show.
