As a well-known local vocalist and band leader, John Walker has appeared on many local platforms but he found a new one today (Saturday) – at Crowcombe Heathfield Railway Station.
With a group of friends from Bradford on Tone, JW Voices 1940s version are adding musical notes and authentic colour to West Somerset Railway’s Forties Event 2025 which takes place today and tomorrow (Sunday).
Stations along the route from Bishops Lydeard to Minehead are all featuring exhibitions and entertainment throughout the weekend – together with vintage cars, Corporal Jones’s butcher’s bike, posters and bunting.
Passengers on the first train of the weekend had embraced the whole experience by dressing in 40s style to add vintage colour to the event – with John and his singers welcoming them with We’ll Meet Again and a rousing 1940s medley.
