Is there anyone out there who doesn’t like panto? No, surely!
Panto is one of almost everyone’s childhood’s most memorable experiences – and even in a digital age, the sheer ridiculous, exuberant fun of panto is irresistible across the age range.
And it’s coming to our town in just a few weeks!
The award-winning Wellington Pantomime Group’s production of Sleeping Beauty opens on Wednesday, January 28th, at the Wellesley.
The production was launched long ago – in June – and rehearsals have been ongoing since then.
The cast appeared in fine form, and in costume at the Carnival, in September and everything – performances, costume, choreography, sound, lighting, custard pies – are all being fine-tuned and made ready to entertain.
With more than 50 years of experience to draw on, Wellington Pantomime Group know how to delight and make the most of a story which combines romance, goodness, badness, compassion and cruelty – and wonderfully silly humour.
Oh, and a princess and a magical kiss and … you know the rest. See it in the hands of this accomplished company and just enjoy!
Cold weather, winter gloom and spring a long time away mean we can all benefit from the lift of laughter and uncomplicated joy – and that is guaranteed by Sleeping Beauty.
There are evening performances throughout the week with two extra shows on the Saturday before one final bow on the Sunday afternoon.
